Ventricular septal defect

This is a 30-year-old woman scanned at 29 weeks of gestation. This is her third pregnancy and she is a chronic alcoholic and epileptic. The following is a cardiac ultrasound with power Doppler showing the ventricular septal defect.

The baby was born at 38 weeks of gestation and the diagnosis was confirmed by a postnatal echocardiogram.
