Case report

The following images show two cases of the vasa praevia diagnosed during second trimester scanning.

Case 1

Images 1, 2: The image 1 shows lower segment of the uterus with two parts of the placenta (PL) localized on the anterior and posterior walls of the uterus. The images 2 shows color Doppler imagination of the vasa praevia passing above the inner os of the cervix.

Images 3, 4: The images show gray scale (Image 3) and color Doppler (Image 4) scans of the fetal cervix with the vasa praevia crossing the inner os of the cervix.

Images 5, 6: The images show color Doppler (Image 5) and color Doppler glass body mode (Image 4) scans of the fetal cervix with the vasa praevia crossing the inner os of the cervix.

Case 2

Images 9, 10: The images show color Doppler scans of the fetal cervix with the vasa praevia crossing the inner os of the cervix. The spectral Doppler shows fetal heart frequency within the vessel crossing the inner or of the cervix.

Images 11: Postnatal appearance of the two parts of the bilobate placenta connected by the vasa praevia.
