Ureterocele, bilateral

Jayprakash Shah, MD.

Rajni Hospital, Ahmedabad, India.

Case report

A G3P2 patient with negative history and normal 13 weeks ultrasonography was referred to our department at 24 weeks of her pregnancy due to oligohydramnios. Biometry of the fetus was normal, but following findings were discovered:

  • Bilateral hydronephrosis.

  • Normal urinary bladder with two cystic areas within the urinary bladder suggestive of bilateral ureterocele.

The parents opted for the termination of the pregnancy but they refused the autopsy.

Images 1, 2: The image 1 shows a tiny membrane surrounding two "cystic" structures within the fetal urinary bladder representing the bilateral ureterocele. The image 2 shows bilateral dilatation of the renal pelvises.
