Case report

This is a case of lumbar spina bifida revealed in 30th week of pregnancy (fourth pregnancy; nonconsanguineous couple). First two scans at 12th and 20th week of pregnancy didn"t discover any pathology, but the examinations were limited by body habitus.Ā The third sonography revealed lumbar rachischisis (images 1, 3), dilated lateral cerebral ventricles (image 2). The parentsĀ optedĀ for interruption of the pregnancy. Before thatĀ an amniocentesis was performed with normal karyotype (46, XY). The parents refused an autopsy.
