This is a fetus with schisis- association that was scanned at 16 weeks and demonstrated omphalocele and exencephaly with acrania. The pregnancy was terminated and the karyotype was normal.

This is the post-mortem view of the embryo, demonstrating the acrania and the superior and median midline defect (absence of sternum and hernial protrusion of the viscera) and the rachischisis:
