Pseudo-omphalocele

Fabrice Cuillier, MD

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hôpital Félix Guyon, Saint-Denis, Reunion Island, France

This is a case of mistaken identity ! At 12 weeks this fetus was erroneously diagnosed as having an "omphalocele". At a repeat scan performed at 14 weeks there was no trace left of the "omphalocele", which thus was a physiological herniation of the midgut !!!
