Persistent left superior vena cava

Case report

This is an example of persistent left superior vena cava noticed during second trimester ultrasound investigation.

Images 1, 2: Images show a transverse scan of the thorax at the level of the 3-vessel view. Persistent left superior vena cava can be seen - arrow at image 1 (1 - pulmonary artery; 2 - aorta; 3 right superior vena cava).

Image 3: Mild tricuspid regurgitation was also present.
