Case report
A 30-year-old woman (G1P0) was referred to our clinic at 13 weeks of gestation due to dilated urinary bladder of the fetus.
Our ultrasonographic examination revealed megacystis with dilated renal pelvises and normal amount of the amniotic fluid.
Repeated exam was done at 15 weeks revealing:
• dilated, thick-walled urinary bladder;
• bilateral pyelectasis and left ureteral dilatation;
• megalourethra;
• normal amount of the amniotic fluid.
The couple opted for the termination of the pregnancy. Fetal karyotype was normal (46,XY).
Diagnosis of the congenital megalourethra was confirmed by the autopsy.
