Case report

A 22-year-old woman (G1P0) was referred to our department at 14 weeks of her pregnancy for a routine ultrasonographic examination. The nuchal translucency was 1 mm (CRL 70 mm). The amount of the amniotic fluid was normal. The stomach and bladder were seen. An early bilateral pyelectasia with the doubled renal collecting system of the right kidney was observed.
The ultrasound scans were repeated at 17, 20, and 31 weeks and the diagnosis was confirmed. 
Fetal karyotype was normal and maternal serological tests (TORCH) were negative.
The neonate was born at 38 weeks and its postnatal adaptation was normal. Postnatal sonography confirmed the diagnosis of the right duplicated renal collecting system.
