Case report

This is a 25-year-old healthy woman (G1P0) with noncontributive history. She presented at our unit at 22 weeks for a routine ultrasound scan and the following images and video show the findings we could observe. The fetus showed an unusual partial duplication of the right leg. The parents opted for the termination of the pregnancy and no other examinations were done.

Images 1, 2: The image 1 shows a normal appearance of the left fetal leg (left part of the image 1), and a shortened bowed bone of the right lower leg (right part of the image 1). The image 2 shows deformed bones of the right right lower leg.

Image 3: The image shows right deformed tibia and partial duplication of the distal part of the right leg.

Video 1:  The video shows right deformed tibia and partial duplication of the distal part of the right leg (two feet arise from the common leg).

Images 4, 5: X-ray images of the baby"s legs. The images 4 shows a small right "extra femur" lying transversally and localized just above the normally looking right femur. At the image 5 partial duplication of the distal part of the right leg is clearly visible.

Images 6, 7: Postnatal appearance of the baby and the right leg. At the image 6 there is a prominence of the right hip pushed out byt the small extra femur wich was visible at the X-ray image 4.

Images 8, 9: Postnatal appearance of the baby"s legs.
