Azygos vein

The following 2D and color Doppler images demonstrate the normal course of the azygos vein, originating in the retroperitoneal space of the abdomen, to the right of the spine, passing through the posterior diaphragm, running right and posterior to the heart in the thorax, to reach the superior vena cava at the site of its junction with the right atrium.
