Agenesis of the corpus callosum

Case report

A 28 year-old woman came for the first time to our institution at 29 weeks of pregnancy. Her previous ultrasound examinations were done in other facility, with no abnormal findings.

During our examination we saw complete agenesis of the corpus callosum with an absent pericallosal artery.

She opted for termination of the pregnancy and postmortem examination confirmed our diagnosis.

Images 1-4: 2D and doppler images show axial and mid-sagittal views of the fetal head. Note the absent of the pericallosal artery (image 1), colpocephaly and mild asymmetric dilation of the posterior horns, indirect signs of agenesis of the corpus callosum.
