Case report

A 32-year-old woman was referred to our unit for a routine ultrasound scan at 34 weeks of pregnancy. Our examination showed normal four chamber view of the fetal heart, but the aorta arose from the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery arose from the left ventricle. The findings were consistent with the transposition of the great arteries.
At 38 weeks a cesarean section was performed the neonate was transferred to the intensive care unit and died 24 hours later. The diagnosis was confirmed by the pathologist.
