Diastematomyelia

Case report

The following images show a case of the diastematomyelia detected at 17 weeks of pregnancy of a 19-year-old woman. Karyotype of the fetus was normal (46, XX). The parents opted for the termination of the pregnancy ant the diagnosis was confirmed.

Images 1, 2: Images show a transverse (Image 1) and a coronal (Image 2) scans of the fetal spine (at the level of Th 2 - Th 6) with diastematomyelia. A septum partially subdivides the vertebral canal and the spinal cord into the two parts.
