Case report

This is a 30-year-old woman, G2P1, presented to our department at 27th week of pregnancy. The ultrasonography revealed a big intrathoracic lung tumor of solid appearance consistent with congenital adenomatoid malformation of the lung type III. The heart was in dextroposition and a severe polyhydramnios was also present. We didn"t observe any other malformations. The patient underwent preterm delivery six day later and the baby died immediately (weight 1300 g). An autopsy confirmed our diagnosis. In addition we found postaxial polydactyly postnatally. Here are some of the images we obtained.

Images 1, 2. Transverse planes through the fetal thorax at 27th week of pregnancy showing solid hyperechoic left lung, consistent with congenital adenomatoid malformation type III, with dextroposition of the heart.
