This is a 28-year-old woman with unremarkable history scanned at 35+6 weeks of gestational age. The ultrasound investigation revealed acrania with craniorachischisis and polyhydramnios. These are some of the images we obtained.

Images 1, 2. 2D ultrasonography; 36 weeks. Image 1 shows axial scan aligned through fetal orbits - cranial vault is missing. Image 2 - more superficial scan showing nose and palpebral fissures.

Images 3, 4. 2D ultrasonography; 36 weeks. Parasagittal scans aligned through the orbit. Dorsally protruding fetal brain is visible (arrows).
