Reviewer for A Month (RAM) instructions

First, I sincerely thank you for your donating your time and expertise to TheFetus.net. The idea is that you will be in charge of reviewing and posting the Case of the Week, and selecting the correct responses for your assigned month. These cases can come from a user submission or from your own collection. I have written some instructions to teach you how to use the website, however, I am available to you anytime (cerine.jeanty@gmail.com). I read through all final submissions to address minor language editing and cosmetic appearance of the webpage. Hopefully, the task will not be an overwhelming responsibility and something you may consider doing again in the future!

Responsibilities

We appreciate you signing up to be a Reviewer for A Month (RAM)! Your primary responsibilities will be the following:

  1. Post a Case of the Week (COW) on the 15st and 30th day of your assigned month; 2 cases total.
  2. Select the correct responses for the Cases of the Week that will reveal on the 14th and the 29th day of your month.

You will have about two weeks to prepare your first Case of the Week (COW) which is scheduled to be posted on the 15th day of the month. You can either use a case from your personal collection and follow the attached “How to Submit a Case” instructional PDF, or you can review a case submitted by one of the website users. There may be a case that is ready to go. The attached “Reviewer for A Month” instructional PDF goes through this process in detail. The second COW will reveal on the 29th day of the month, we hope you will be able to correct these answers before your month ends. The answers you review on the 14th day of the month will be a COW posted by the previous reviewer.

RAM Welcome

If additional Cases or Articles are submitted by the website users during your month, you should begin the process of reviewing and commenting on these submissions. These will generate COWs for the reviewers that are volunteering after you.

I am available to help with any technical difficulties or questions, text editing, image and video cropping, literature review, reference checking, and general coordination.

I look forward to working with you! As I check my personal email more often than the website email, please email me with any questions at cerine.jeanty@gmail.com!

Reviewing and Posting Cases

1. You will log onto the website with your usual Login and Password information. You will have access to the “Moderator Tools” during your assigned month.

2. Once you have logged in you will open the “Moderator Tools” by clicking on the arrow button on the left side of your screen. To view the submitted cases, click on the “Articles & Cases.”

3. This will bring you to the list of pending user submissions. If you have submitted one of your own cases, you will also see it here. These cases have NOT been accepted for publication as indicated by the status “Not Approved” (in orange).

4. If you would like to find a different case, click the “Show Approved?” button on the right side of the screen (red box). This will show you ALL the cases and articles posted on the website.

RAM Instructions03

5. You can sort by Type (red arrow) to show just the Articles or just the Cases. We propose that you sort the Articles by submission date (yellow highlight) to get the most recent ones, and the Cases by name (orange highlight) in order to more easily find the submission you are looking for.

6. You will be responsible for reviewing the cases that are marked as “Not approved” in the status column. Click on the title to open the desired submission. The case will open in a new tab. You can scroll down to review the case, images and the answer. Click on the “Edit Case” button in the orange tool bar at the top to make any changes and to open the “Correspondence” box.

7. The editing functions are similar to when you submit a case and are covered in the “How to Submit a Case” instructional pdf.

8. The “Correspondence” box is at the bottom of the page. This will allow you to communicate with the author. Click “Post” once you have finished adding your comments. The author will then be able to view your comments and make the appropriate changes to the submission.

RAM Instructions07

9. If a Reviewer from a previous month has already posted a comment, the “Correspondence” box will appear with their comments. You can “Add a reply” to add any additional comments if necessary. The author can also “Add a Reply” in response to the Reviewer comments. This box will document the entire conversation so that a new Reviewer can pick up the case where it was left off.

RAM Instructions08

10. Once all the necessary modifications have been made to the case, it can be posted using the “Approval & Publishing” box. I can assist you with this process. The cases are posted (“Publish Date”) on the 15th and the 30th day of the month. The answers are revealed (“Case End”) on the 14th and the 29th day of the month.

Selecting the correct answers

1. You will select the correct answers for the two Cases of the Week that are revealed during your assigned month. The answer will reveal on the 14th and the 29th day of the month. You should plan to spend some time on these days to correct the answers, however, you have access to select correct answers throughout the month.

2. Go back to your “Moderator Tools” and click on “Articles & Cases.” You will only see the list of pending user submissions until you click on “Show Approved?” (red box). Now you see all the Cases of the Week. The cases listed as “Approved & Upcoming” are ready to be published and have already been reviewed and approved. The last “Live” case (red arrow) is the Case of the Week that is currently up on the website and accepting answers from users. Click on the three dots to the left of the title (purple circle).

RAM Instructions001

3. A new sidebar will appear to the right of your screen.

RAM Instructions002

4. As you scroll down, you will see all the submitted answers for each user. For each correct answer, click on the button to the right of the answer to mark as correct (red box). Remember to click the green “Save” button at the bottom when you have finished reviewing the answers.

RAM Instructions003

5. Notice the “Display winners?” at the bottom of the sidebar (red arrow). Once you have reviewed and selected all the correct answers, click on the right-sided button (red box) to display the winners to the site. Please only click this button AFTER the answer has been revealed AND you have reviewed all the answers. The winners will not be displayed to the website until this button is clicked.
